Srinagar : Farooq Abdullah, who had on Friday announced his decision to step down as National Conference chief, reiterated on Saturday that won’t contest the party president’s election next month, but stated that he would contest the assembly polis.
Reacting to the buzz in the political circles that he had decided to retire from active politics and would not contest either party or state polis, Farooq told reporters in Jammu: ” J & K is a place of rumors and that’s nothing new. I will contest assembly polis for sure whenever they are held. I won’t fight the NC elections for choosing the party chief on December 5, Delegates will choose the new party president. ” He said that the NC’s strategy for the assembly polls was ready and the party was fully geared up to face the elections.
