Dehradun: The group of 14 trekkers, including 13 Amari- cans and an Indian instructor, who escaped an avalanche near the Pindaric glacier by taking refuge behind a rock on Thursday night, safely reach- heed Kapota town of Bags- war district on Sunday after- noon with the help of SDRF.

SDRF inspector Lalita Ne- gi said the trekkers had met the SDRF rescue team mid- way on Saturday and then spent the night at a govern- ment establishment in Dwari area. “They left for Khati vil- lage at 6:30 am on Sunday and reached the location around 11 am after a 12-km trek. By after- noon, they reached Kapkote town by road, after which the SDRF team handed them over to Bageshwar district admin- registration officials,” said Negi.
Bageshwar disaster man- management officer Shikha Sural said, “The trekkers were medically examined. All are healthy and fine.”
