Uttarkashi / Dehradun: In clement weather cut short. rescue operations once again on Saturday morning, as heavy snowfall stopped per sonnel trying to retrieve bodies and trace three missing persons at Mt Draupadi ka Danda, where 26 members of Nehru Institute of Mountaineering ( NIM ) – 24 trainees and 2 instructors — died after being hit by an avalanche on Tuesday. Seven bodies were flown into Uttarkashi from the Draupadi ka Danda base camp in the morning on Ar my helicopters. Efforts are on to bring back the remaining 15, officials said. Four bodies, including those of the two women instructors of NIM- Naumi Rawat and Savita Kanswal were airlifted last week.
The bodies that were brought in on Saturday were identified as Shubham Sangri, a resident of Nainital, Tiklu Jyrwa, a resident of Shillong ( Meghalaya ), Deepshikha Hazarika, a resident of Guwahati ( Assam ), Siddharth Khanduri, a resident of Dehradun, Rahul Panwar, a resident of Uttarkashi, Ravi Kumar Nirmal, a resident of Prayagraj ( UP ), and Nitish, a resident of Sonipat ( Haryana ). All bodies have been handed over to families after post – mortem, ” said Devendra Patwal, district disaster management officer, Uttarkashi.
” The remains of the 15 climbers will be brought back to Uttarkashi as soon as the weather clears. Search for the three missing climbers will continue on Sunday, ” Patwal added.
