Dehradun: A division bench of the Uttarakhand high court quashed a government order transferring an assistant engineer in the irrigation department, whose transfer order was rolled back within a week, a few hours before the announcement of general elections in the state.
When that was challenged in court, the government said ” its wisdom prompted to take the decision “. Angry with the response, chief justice Vipin Sanghi said, ” there is nothing placed on record to show on what material the said so-called ‘ wisdom ‘ is founded “, before quashing the order. Assistant engineer Rakesh Kumar Patel had preferred a writ petition to assail the government order issued on January 7 through the secretary of minor irrigation.
The government filed counter affidavits in its justification.
