Agra : In a bid to implicate Muslim men after a dispute , a group of Akhil Bharat Hindu Maheshbhai ( ABHM ) workers allegedly plotted cow slaughter on the eve of Ram Navami on March 29 , Agra police said .

RK Singh , additional commissioner of police , said , ” Sanjay Jet ( ABHM national spokesperson ) was the main conspirator in the case . His followers and friends slaughtered a cow in the Mehta Bagh area on the night of March 29 and told party member Jitendra Kushwaha to file a case against Mohammad Rizwan , Mohammad Nadim , Mohammad Shaun and Imran Qureshi . However , in – investigations revealed that the named accused had nothing to do with the crime . “

The officer said it was a ” sordid tale of mutual rivalry ” . An inquiry suggested that Sanjay had enmity with people named in the initial FIR and wanted to implicate them in the case . Kushwaha even gheraoed the police station twice , seeking the arrest of the persons named in the FIR . “

Kushwaha lied to us during the interrogation .

He , Sanjay and a few others were at the spot where the cow was slaughtered , as per call records , and not those who they named in the police complaint . Call records also revealed that the accused persons had not gone to that spot in over a month , ” the senior officer said .

Refuting the allegations against him , Sanjay claimed the police were ” falsely implicating ” him in the case . ” The entire matter should be investigated by the Crime Branch of CID , ” he said , adding , ” Some people are against me and are trying to give a different angle to the case . “

In February this year , Sanjay had been arrested in an extortion case . The police said that he and his as societies often stopped vehicles transporting cattle and extorted money by threat ending to lodge police cases . He is currently out on bail .
