Meerut : Two days after Tauqeer Raza Khan , a prominent cleric of the Bareli sect , raised questions on the Prayagraj killings and demanded a criminal conspiracy case against Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Aditya Nath , heavy police force was stationed outside his home in Bareilly on Wednesday to prevent him from holding a sit – in he had an nouned at Islamic Inter College . Another contingent was deployed at the college where the protest was sup posed to take place .
Raza had scheduled the protest at 12:30 pm but the force was in position much before that and he was pre vented from reaching the venue , leading to heated discussions with the police personnel . The administration cited the statewide probe history orders and Covid proto col for the cancellation of permission to hold protest .
An agitated Raza said , ” First , you bring your goons to kill two men in police custody and then slap prohibitory orders to silence people who raise objections . This is injustice . I am not defending criminals like Atif or Vikas Dubey but all the fake end counters taking place in the state are against the tenets of democracy . “
He added , ” If I have violated prohibitory orders , then arrest me But what I am saying is true . “
