Dehradun : Uttarakhand has recorded over 500 % surplus rainfall in the first 11 days of October, with widespread showers for the last week. The Indian Meteorological Department ( IMD ) has predicted more showers in the coming days.

According to the regional meteorological center, as against the normal 16.6mm rainfall, the state received 105.9mm rainfall in the month of October as of now, registering a departure of 538 % surplus showers.

As many as 12 districts, barring Uttarkashi district, recorded way more than normal rainfall in the month of October, which is the first month of the three – month long post – monsoon season. The monsoon season ended on September 30.

” Uttarakhand, especially the districts of Kumaon region, received excess rainfall between October 6 and 8, which is reflected in this month’s rainfall data, ” Bikram Singh, director, of the regional meteorological center, said.

Almora recorded 1473 % surplus rainfall, followed by 1445 % in Bageshwar, 1353 % in Udham Singh Nagar district, 1247 % in Nainital, 873 % in Champawat, 864 % in Chamoli, 529 % in Haridwar, and 169 % excess rainfall in Deh radon district.
