Dehradun : Reeling under the scorching heat , residents are expected to get some respite as a fresh round of rain and thunderstorm has been predicted in Uttarakhand .
Sharing the information , director of Met centre in Dehradun , Bikram Singh said , ” Due to western disturbances , rain and thunderstorm is expected to start from the evening of April 18 and will in crease , on April 19 and 20. It will continue till April 22.
” He added that presently the maximum temperature in plains is two to three degrees above normal . ” While the maximum temperature is around 37 to 38 degrees in the plains , it is around 26 to 27 degrees in the hills at a height of over 2,000 metres .
In both cases it is above normal . The rain activity would bring down the mercury by six to seven degrees , ” said Singh . ” The wind would be in the range of 50 to 60 – km per hour and it can go up to 70 – km per hour on April 19 and 20 , ” said the weather expert .
He also pointed out heavy rain is likely in the districts of Uttarkashi , Chamois , Pithoragarh , Bageshwar and Dehradun on April 19 and 20 . ” said the weather expert.
