Dehradun : The joint team led by the State Disaster Response Force ( SDRF ) continued its search operation for a trekker from Delhi who went missing on the Gaumukh trek in Uttarkashi district around six days ago.
Naveen, 24, from Shahdara in Delhi, had left for the trek with his cousin Aman, also from Delhi, on October 21 from Gangotri after taking permission. Both had reached Gangotri on October 20, according to district authorities. However, after trekking just 5km, Aman fell ill at the Kankhu barrier and returned to Gangotri after a day, while Naveen continued with his journey, Aman told the officials. He waited for a day for Naveen to return but when he didn’t come back on October 23 as scheduled, Aman informed the district administration officials.
SDRF accompanied by a forest department team started a search operation along the Gaumukh trek route.
Devendra Patwal, district disaster management officer, said, ” The search operation is still underway, and the team has gone to Gaumukh to trace the missing trekker. ‘ Significantly, Naveen, who works as a loan agent for a private bank, is well-versed with the Gaumukh trek as he had traversed the 30km trek twice in the past.
