Dehradun : Nainital’s district consumer disputes redressal commission has ordered insurance firm Bajaj Allianz to pay a compensation of R 15 lakh within 45 days to the kin of a man , Kishore Singh , who died in a road accident near Kath god am in 2021. The firm had rejected the claim filed by Singh’s widow , saying the documents were submitted ” 37 days late ” , which was in violation of their policy .
However , the commission on Monday observed that Singh’s widow , Neelam Devi , 32 , a resident of Haldane , didn’t have ” a sound educational background ” and that is why she couldn’t submit the documents on time . Besides compensation , the insurance company was also ordered to pay R 25,000 for ” mental agony.

and litigation charges ” to Devi . Devi approached the commission in July last year after the insurance ignored company her claim . The company had raised two objections to De vi’s claim first , the claim application was moved with a delay of 37 days which it termed as ” a clear violation of the policy . ” Second , the vehicle was being driven without an authorised permit at the time of the incident , which the company termed as a violation of Mo tor Vehicles Act .
However , after looking into the documents , the commission found the vehicle had a valid permit to run on the roads . Also , the insure acne company’s claim related to the ” late submission of documents ” was over ruled .
