Srinagar : PDP chief Mehboob Mufti’s daughter Ilia Mufti , who wishes to pursue higher studies abroad , has been issued a passport that will be valid only for the UAE and for a limited period of two years .
Ilia , 35 , had approached the Jammu and Kashmir high court after the travel document was denied by the rational passport office , citing an adverse report from CID .
According to a letter writ ten by the regional passport office to the additional solicitor general , Altima’s passport is valid from April 5 , 2023 till April 4 , 2025. After two years , an assessment will be done and a decision taken accord only on further validity , pass port officer ( Srinagar ) , Davin der Singh , said .

I am thankful to the honourable court , but the larger question remains about CID’s gross misconduct and abuse of power by weep noising passports , ” she said .
She alleged that CID’s sub mission to court was full of ” bald – faced lies ” and that the department had infringed up on her rights by filing an ad verse report ” to ensure my passport is not issued ” .
Altima’s passport expired on January 2 this year and she had applied for a fresh one well in advance , on June 8 , 2022. The CID wing of J & K Po lice , in its report , did not favour issuance of a new pass port , after which she moved the high court in February . “
The passport , as per the instruction manual , is expected to be dispatched within ape proximately 30 days . The inaction is discriminatory in nature and unconstitutional , ” Ilia said in her plea .
