Housing & urban depot sexy gets 1 MTh to act against Roorkee mayor

Dehradun : Accepting the plea of the secretary of housing and urban development , Devendra Chaudhary , seeking a month’s time to take action regarding the allegations against Roorkee mayor Gaurav Goyal , a division bench of Uttarakhand high court Chief Justice Vipin Sangha and Justice Alok Kumar Ver ma agreed to the request . Chaudhary had appeared in the court on Thursday and said that the earlier orders of the court are being followed .

In July 2022 , BJP expelled Roorkee mayor Gaurav Goyal after a purported clip of him allegedly asking for R 25 lakh for extending the lease on a government property sur faced . It later turned out that a multi – storey building in BT Ganj market of Roorkee was erected on that land , allegedly in connivance with the district administration .

Days later , the Uttarakhand high court ordered the state to take action against Goyal . Almost a year later , Goyal continues in office . During the last hearing on March 21 , HC issued a contempt notice to the secretary of urban development department for failing to submit an ” action taken ” report in the case within the stipulated two months ‘ time .

In July last year , a resident of Roorkee , Amit Aggarwal , alleged that Goyal had demanded R 25 lakh in lieu of extending the lease on the government land . The conversation was recorded , which after examination in the fore sic lab was ” found to be genuine ” . Now , the court has ordered action by May 17 in the matter .
