Bareilly : A special court of additional district and sessions judge, Abdul Qayyum, in Bareilly awarded life imprisonment to six people, including four brothers, on Friday, for killing a man who had helped his nephew marry the daughter of one of the accused on July 29, 2018. The court also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 against all the accused.
Divulging the case details, additional district government counsel ( ADGC ) Anoop Koharwal said, ” The incident was reported from the Shahi area of Bareilly district where the victim, Dha Rampal, used to live in a joint family. His nephew Hardas had married Kami ni against her family’s wishes. Dharampal and a few villagers, however, backed the couple’s decision.
The ADGC added: ” A few days later, Kamini’s father Bhuvan Chandra, and his brothers Rishipal, Harpal, and Ishwari along with relatives Suresh Kumar and Suneel Kumar took their revenge. “
Two weeks after the wedding, Dharampal was shot dead while he was working on his farm. An FIR was registered at Shahi police station against all six accused under IPC sections 147 (rioting) , 148 ( rioting with deadly weapons ), 149 (offense committed by any member of an unlawful assembly in prosecution of the common object of that assembly ), and 302 ( murder ) on the complaint of the victim’s wife Kusum Devi
Police later arrested all the accused and sent them to prison. A charge sheet was thereafter filed against them in court.
” The four brothers and their two relatives have been found guilty of murder. Besides the life term, a cash fine of Rs 10,000 each was imposed by the special court which also directed to pay half of the money to the victim’s wife, ” the ADGC further said.
