Dehradun: The Uttarak- hand health department on Thursday issued an advisory along with other safety guide- lines in nine regional languages for pilgrims coming from different states for the Char Dham yatra. This comes d after seven people died in just the first five days of the yatra.
The medical staff deployed at the yatra route for the assistance of pilgrims gave the feedback that people are not completely aware of the guidelines and are there- fore facing difficulties on the trek routes, most of which are silsituated over 10,000 ft above sea level.
“It is sometimes noted that pilgrims are not fully aware of the health advisory and guidelines while embarking on the yatra due to language constraint.

We have pilgrims coming from differ-4 Ent parts of the country, and some use regional languages other than Hindi or English, so we have taken this initiative to give advisories and guidelines to them in their own language,” said R Rajesh Ku- mar state health secretary.
The languages in which the information will be circulated include Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, and Oriya among others.
“Medical screening for those above the age of 55 years is compulsory, while those having any kind of comorbid- ? ivies should consult their doc- tors and read the health advise sorry carefully before embark in on the yatra,” Kumar added.
