Nainital: The Uttarakhand high court on Wednesday heard a petition challenging the rules of the State Public Service Commission that allows a reserve category person, who has availed relaxation in age limit and the number of chances to take writing examination, to be selected for general category After hearing the matter, a division bench of chief justice Vipin Sanghi and justice RC Khulbe asked the state as well as the commission to file a counter affidavit within four weeks.

As an interim measure, the court directed that selections of all those reserved category candidates, who have availed the benefit of relaxed standards in applying for the post in Uttarakhand Combined State Civil Service Examination, 2021 share the main subject to the outcome of the writ petition. The court fixed February 14, 2023, as the next hearing date.
