Lucknow : Three policemen on escort duty with an Allahabad high court judge were suspended for breach of protocol after they contacted him directly asking about the location of his residence and itinerary.

Sub-inspector ( SI ) Tej Bahadur Singh and constables Rishabh Raj Yadav and Mohammed Ayub Wali were suspended for laxity ‘ and ‘ breach of protocol by the superintendent of police ( SP ), Ambedkarnagar. Elaborating on the incident, Ambedkarnagar SP Ajit Sinha said that reserve in Spector police line Ambedkarnagar had deployed SI Tej Bahadur, Rishabh Raj Yadav, and Ayub for the escort duty of Justice Shree Prakash Singh who was to visit the district on October 23 from Prayagraj.

Before the start of the trip, the SI and the constables directly contacted the judge ask ing him ” aapka Ghar Kahan hai ? and ” aapko Kahan Jaana hai? ( ” where your house is situated and where do you want to go ” ) . The judge communicated this to Ambedkarnagar SP, following which a probe was conducted by the officer, and the three were found lax in the discharge of duty.

Sinha that as per norms, those on escort duty are required to collect such details from the dignitary’s assigned protocol officer/personal security office or an assigned assistant. The three were suspended for breach of protocol and attached to the Ambedkarnagar police lines, he said.
