Bareilly: The body of a 12 – year – old girl, who had gone missing on Thursday morning around 11 am, was found in a sugarcane field in a village in Kant area of Uttar Pra dish’s Shahjahanpur district in the evening with her hands tied with a dupatta, said police.
After getting information from locals, senior superintendent of police ( SSP ) S Anand rushed to the spot along with forensic experts and initiated an investigation into the matter.
According to police, the victim, a class 6 student, and daughter of a marginal farmer didn’t return home after she went out to collect fodder. She was in her school uniform, said, officials.
SSP Anand said, ” We have checked the body and there are no signs of sexual assault. There were no injuries on the body as well. Forensic experts are gathering evidence from the spot. “
” Prima facie, it is a matter of personal enmity or someone might have killed her after failing to violate her. The body has been sent for autopsy and an FIR will be registered after receiving a complaint from the family, ” the SSP added.
