Rudrapur : US Nagar police have attached properties of Canada – based Harjeet Singh alias Kaale at Gulzarpur village in Kashipur over his alleged role in the murder of a 70 – year old farmer and mining trader in the district on October 13.

Police also recovered a pistol magazine and 9 live cartridges of prohibited .45 bore during a two-day-long property attachment drive.

Confirming attachment of the NRI’s properties, senior superintendent of police ( SSP ) Manjunath TC said police have confiscated two tractors, two trolleys, two harvesters, two ACs, and all electronic and electrical items from the accused’s farmhouse during the drive.

” We are trying to get the remand of Arshdeep Dhalla and Sardool Singh alias Sukha, who allegedly arranged the shooters, from Punjab police to know their role in the case, ” he said. After a local court issued nonbailable warrants against Harjeet Singh and his son Tanveer Singh, police secured permission from the court to attach their properties.

Their properties were attached on Tuesday and Wednesday in the presence of a large number of police , the police officer said. On October 13, two bike-borne men barged into Mahal Singh’s house at Judkaa village in Kashipur and shot him dead.

He was murdered allegedly after his relationship turned sour with Harjeet Singh, who co-owned a stone crusher with Mahal Singh. Police on October 18 arrested three people Prabhjot Singh Pannu, 27, Rajvinder Kaur, 46, and Sukhdev Singh alias Se vi, 55, for assisting the shooters in Mahal Singh’s murder.

On October 28, a joint team of Pun jab, Delhi, and Uttarakhand police arrested four suspected shooters of a gang from Punjab’s Mohali town in connection with the murder.

The four suspected shooters were identified as Sadhu Singh, Jagdish Singh alias Disha, Manpreet Singh alias Mani and Jaspreet Singh alias Lock. They are residents of the Mansa district of Punjab. Earlier, Manju Nath said police have started the legal formalities for the extradition of Harjeet Singh and his son from Canada.
