Varanasi: Former minister Angad Yadav and three others were awarded life imprisonment on Friday by the Azamara MP-MLA court in an eight- year-old murder case. Yadav, who was a minister in Manavati-led BSP government between 2007 and 2012, and others were accused of killing Con- dress functionary and lawyer Rajma-Rayan Singh on December 19, 2015. While sentencing Angad Yadav and other accused Sunil Singh, Arun – Yadav and Shailesh alias Tena – Special judge Omprakash Sharma-III also imposed a fine of R 20,000 each.
Raj Narayan Singh was shot dead on December 19, 2015, in Azamara district when he was out on a morning walk and sem unknown motorcycle- borne miscreants opened fire on him.

In this case, Sudha Singh, the wife of the Raj Narayan, had filed an FIR against Angad Yadav and Sunil Singh, a resident of Samburu village of Bartha area, and unknown people. A few days after the murder, Angad Yadav surrendered at the Srihari police station and was also booked under the Gangster Act in 2016.
At present, he is lodged in Prayagraj’ s Nalini jail. His bail plea was also rejected by the Supreme Court. The Azamara district administration had attached his property worth over R 40 lakh in Srihari police station area in January this year. Angad Yadav has been a three-term MLA from Azamara’s Nizamabad – 1991, 1993 and 2007 on BSP ticket. He later joined BJP and his nephew Manoj Yadav was the saffron party’s candidate in 2022, but lost to SP’s Alam Badi.
