Jaisalmer : A 30 – year – old Dalit woman died during treatment in a Jodhpur hospital late Friday evening , a day after she was raped and burnt with acid , allegedly by a 28 – year – old man from the same village in Rajasthan’s Barer dis strict .
On finding the married woman home alone on Thursday night , the accused , Shakur Khan , end treed the house and raped her , Barer SP Dig ant Anand said . In their com plaint , her family alleged that Khan had brought a corrosive , acid – like sub stance that he poured on the victim . He was arrested on Friday .
After her death , the woman’s relatives sat on a dharna outside the mortuary of Mahatma Gandhi Hospital , Jodhpur , de mending financial com pension of R 1 crore , a government job , and strict action against the accused .
With the woman’s family refusing to end their agita tin and allow the post mortem until their demands were accepted , the body was still at the mortuary at the time of going to press .
