Dehradun : The Centre has assured three – pronged sup port to provide the best healthcare and emergency services to lakhs of pilgrims who would embark on the Char Dham yatra from April 22 this year .
On Monday , state health minister Dhan Singh Rawat met Union minister Mansukh Mandaviya and informed him of the health challenges pilgrims face on the strenuous routes , besides the number of deaths during the yatra due to health emergencies like stroke . According to the minister , many of these casualties were pilgrims who suffered from co – morbidities .
The Union minister told Rawat that the ” government would soon create a strong health support and emergency management infrastructure ” for the pilgrims .
” This will be a three – layered structure to ensure that the pilgrims get the best healthcare during their journey , ” Mandaviya told Rawat .

About the Centre’s strategy to add to the existing health infrastructure for the pilgrims , Rawat said that a strong network of advanced ambulances and stroke vans is being planned .
” These ambulances will be stationed at different points on the yatra route . PG students from medical colleges across the country have been proposed to work as part of strengthened healthcare infrastructure . In addition , drones will be used to provide emergency medicines at higher altitudes . , ” the health minister said .
