Agra : A 55 – year – old man was killed and four seriously injured after a four-storeyed building collapsed on Friday in Upper Kot locality in the old city area of Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh district , said officials. The in cidentoccured near Shisha wali mosque in the Iglas police station area at around 9 pm, as per the locals.

District magistrate of Aligarh, Indra Vikram Singh, said rescue operations started immediately after getting the information.

He said, ” Four JCB machines, six ambulances, fire tenders, a team of doctors, and police teams were posted on the spot. “

Police teams with the help of four JCB machines pulled out five people from the debris including the building owner, identified as Shakir Ahmed ( 55 ), who later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The other four are under treatment at the district hospital, according to officials. Those injured have been identified as Akhtiyar Ahmed, a resident of Jamalpur and an ac quaintance of Shakir, his nephew Abdullah, Naeem, and Shahid.

According to locals, the building served as a godown for the owner’s garment store.
