Dehradun : The first state-level Frontier Mountain District Children’s Science Festival was opened in Champawat on Saturday with an aim to develop scientific temper among students studying at schools in the state’s remote locations.
Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the two-day science festival being organized jointly by Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology ( UCOST ) and the Champawat district administration.
As a prelude to the festival, many competitions were organized at the block and district levels to strengthen the scientific concept and develop scientific consciousness among the children of the border, remote, and. accessible areas of the state.
” Almost 250 schoolchildren from six border districts of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, Champawat, and Pithoragarh are participating in the science festival, ” said UCOST di rector general Durgesh Pant. Governor Gurmeet Singh will attend the valedictory function on Sunday.
Organizers said the festival will give a platform to the participants to have thorough discussions with scientists and listen to their lectures. Science exhibitions, workshops, sky observation sessions, film shows, and planetarium shows will be conducted at the festival, they added .
