Dehradun : Uttarakhand government has directed the state vigilance department to lodge an FIR against people who helped candidates pass the sub-inspector entrance exam, in 2015 by leaking the question paper or manipulating the OMR sheet. On behalf of the government, additional secretary Lalit Mohan Royal wrote a letter to the director of vigilance on Friday.
GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology conducted the exam for 339 posts of sub-inspectors in 2015-16. After the issue of ” wrongdoings ” by some candidates to clear the exam came to the fore, the state government recently gave a probe into the matter to the vigilance department.
In the letter, Royal has suggested the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, Uttar Pradesh Public Exams (Prevention of Unfair Means ) Act, 1988, and Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, under which a case should be registered against those resorting to unlawful activities to help candidates clear the exams.
The letter further stated that taking the seriousness of the matter into account, the government has approved lodging a case against those involved. about it.
Royal further directed the vigilance director to take further action in the matter and informed the government about it.
