Bareilly: Rampur’s MP / MLA court has given regular bail to Azam Khan in the hate speech case on the condition of furnishing two bail bonds of Rs 50,000 each on Tues day Azam remained in the court for over 3 hours. The next date of hearing over the pending appeal is December 2. The lower MP / MLA court had awarded 3 years in jail to Azam along with a Rs 6k fine in the hate speech case.

Recently, Azam’s UP assembly membership was ” annulled ” following his conviction in the hate speech case. Azam Khan was found guilty under sections 153a ( promoting enmity ), 505-1 ( public mischief ) of IPC along with section 125 under the Representation of People Act 1951. The case against Azam has registered in 2019 during the Loksabha elections. Azam, his son Abdullah and his wife Fatima also appeared in a fake birth certificate case in the court.

Earlier on November 10, the court of MP / MLA sessions judges Alok Dubey dismissed SP leader Azam Khan’s plea challenging his conviction in a hate-speech case that led to his disqualification from the UP assembly. The court had said that it didn’t find any ground to give a stay to Khan in that case. Azam’s counsel Zubair Ah mad Khan said, ” We had pressed an application to convert the interim bail to a regular bail which was accepted by the court in the hate speech case. The application for a criminal appeal, in this case, will be heard on December 2. “
