Dehradun : Four local youths who were missing since Friday – died after drowning in the Kelriver at KalSiri village in the Dewal area of Chamoli district.
According to district police, the four friends had gone to the local market on Friday and did not return home. The family members then informed the police, who conducted patrolling in the area on Friday night in search of the missing boys, but to no avail.
On Saturday morning, a few locals spotted unidentified bodies floating in the Kel river and informed the police. A State Disaster Response Force ( SDRF ) team was thereafter deputed to the spot for a search and rescue operation. ” The SDRF team fished out four bodies from the river, which were later identified as that of boys who were missing for the past 24 hours. The bodies were sent to the community health center in Dewal for post – for them, ” said inspector Lalita Negi, spokesperson, SDRF How the youths ended up drowning in the river is being probed. The deceased youths were identified as An shul Bisht, 17; Priyanshu Bisht, 16; Dharmendra Singh, 15; and Aditya Mishra, 15; all residents of Dewal. The four were students of the Government Inter-college, Dewal.
