2k cops , drones , SDRF teams to ensure safe Char Dham yatra

Dehradun : To ensure a safe and secure Char Dham yatra , scheduled to commence on April 22 , the Uttarakhand police is planning to deploy as many as 2,000 personnel , along with drones , on the yatra routes . Also , State Disaster Response Force ( SDRF ) teams would be stationed at various places to ensure swift rescue operations in case of any disaster .

The information was shared by state director general of police ( DGP ) Ashok Ku mar on Tuesday . ” The state police have trained around 2,000 personnel to ensure safety and security of the pilgrims . Moreover , drones would also be deployed in all the districts through which the yatra routes pass to monitor traffic and help solve any related issues , ” Kumar said .

The DGP said that teams of SDRF would be deployed at 28 spots on the Char Dham yatra routes . ” With their deployment , we believe that it won’t take more than two hours to respond to any disaster on the route . Teams of ‘ jal ‘ police would also be deployed at 16 spots , along with tourist police personnel at 57 places during the yatra , ” Kumar said .

The state police head also cautioned pilgrims to be aware of cyber criminals who dupe people on the pretext of helicopter bookings for the yatra . ” People should make bookings only on official websites , details of which would be shared by the state police on its official social media pages and Uttarakhand police app as well . Police would also post updates on the traffic flow on the yatra route to facilitate the pilgrims , ” said Kumar .
